Google: The next Foursquare?

Google has a new feature included into their latest update for Google map. It pretty much have the same idea as foursquare and that when you check into places you earn points. Google hasn't officially announced that they did this update and also they didn't even say in the latest update. This new feature is called Google Latitude and not everyone can use it. Only user who have check in once somewhere using Google Latitude can use it. Also as far as I know only android user have this privilege. It also have a leader board ranking if you check in a place and earn points and your the number 1 ranking in your friends, you will earn a crown next to your names. It relates it to Google+ friends where they rank you with your friend, the only thing they don't have and foursquare have is mayor ship.
I think that this is quite cool news to me because Google have this feature and they are not willing to tell the world that they did. Now Google is pretty smart because they are copying every successful social networking site or app. For example they copied Facebook style website by creating Google+ and now they are creating Google Latitude which they are trying to use idea from foursquare. I think it doesn't really affect me because I don't like foursquare and the concept of it.
